Katrina Byrne

Hi everyone.

I’ve been involved with horses for almost 20 years now and currently have 5 horses/ponies.  My Welsh show pony who has lots of ‘character’, my veteran riding coloured cob (pictured) who I’ve had on loan for about 5 years now – we have qualified for the VHS Scottish championships for the last few years, my retired 17.1hh Hanoverian x TB who I’ve had the longest for about 13years now, my retired veteran coloured Welsh x Shetland and a rescued miniature Shetland from the ILPH/Horse welfare Scotland.

My background was initially in showing mares and foals and youngstock riding horse types from a stud yard as well as being involved with the breeding stallions, then I spent most of my mid/late teenage years and early twenties showjumping and teaching and now I’m back showing my own horses/ponies and have been for about 8years or so.

I like to keep busy as you will see - I sit on the committee for Banchory show, I am the Scottish rep for ecoflow/bioflow for magnetic horse boots and dog collars, I compete most weekend in the summer if I’m not judging at the showing shows, I am on the Veteran horse society judging panel and I still do a little bit of teaching.  As well as looking after my horses and 2 labs and of course working full time J

I am keen to help build the club and bring some new ideas and activities – feel free to contact me directly with any questions or ideas, look forward to getting to know everyone.  Katrina

Lynn Bruce

Hi I’m Lynn, I have 2 pony’s one of which is my daughters that they share, my lovely boy Mac certainly puts me through the ringer sometimes. We have them up at Mergie Livery Stables, I have just been a happy hacker, but last year I tried X country & really enjoyed it. I mostly just take Billy my daughters pony to all the shows, but one day I hope to take Mac. I have only been in amongst horses for 5 years & am still learning loads. Being on the committee will enable me to get to know more of all the members. I hope you all can come & introduce yourself to me when you see me at any events or show. I am very excided to be secretary of the riding club & I hope I do the job justice.

Palomino pony for 15 years.  Paddy is now 22 so you may not see him out that often.  He is stabled at Mergie.  I am looking forward to seeing you all at our events in the coming year.

Lisa Moir

Hiya my name is Lisa and I live up in the hills of Glenesk. Most of you will know me best as being on Scruffy (the one in the picture). He is my own pony and I have had him for just over 3 years now, before I got him he was a deer pony but that wasn't the right career choice for him! Other than Scruffy, you will probably see me on Tinkerbelle - she is a homebred coloured mare.
I love showing and am very lucky to have a huge selection of animals to show, my Dad breeds Highlands and also coloureds and we also have a Shetland, a part bred Arab and a TB x in our gang aswell :)
I enjoy Dressage but will give most things a go. I am looking forward to the variety of events that the Club will be providing in the coming year and am hoping that I can get some of our youngsters out and about to them.
I look forward to meeting you and your four legged friends soon so please do come and say hello, being membership secretary I would be glad to be able to put a face to the name :)

Gail Forman

Hiya - Gail here.  I've ridden for 25 years and have owned the wonderful Falla since 2004.  I can be found most weekends and evenings at Cowton, helping round the yard and teaching the odd lesson.  I'm part way through my BHS stage exams.  Falla and I try most things from dressage to jousting, show jumping to polo.  We did our first ever Pre-Veteran showing class in summer and got 4th place.  My nerves tend to get the better of me and I wimp out over bigger jumps but my little mare takes care of me.  We're really keen to have a go at XC as long as the fences are little!!!

Marc McEwan

Hi I'm Marc I am on the committee for the 2nd year running and believe I am tasked with manly duties according to our treasurer! My family are horsey and breed their own, I rode as a youngster and finally bought my own horse in 2009. Jack is a 16'1 TB x which you may have met at some of the events. This year I am looking to tackle XC on a friends more experienced horse, as my wife has stolen my horse!. My other passion is motorbikes hence the pic of me on the not so hairy horse. Hope to see you out at events, meet some new faces and enjoy the coming season.
